Conventional methods of rural wastewater treatment

High Rate Algal Pond

The symbiotic system of algae in high rate algal pond makes the concentration of dissolved oxygen in the pond is higher (keeping aerobic state), but the ph value has periodical change. Through this method, the average removal rate of cod is up to 70%, the removal rate of ammonia nitrogen is as high as 90% while nitrification, and the removal rate of phosphate is 50% by sedimentation action.

Compared with the traditional stable pond, the high rate algal pond has the advantages of low running cost, simple maintenance and management. Meanwhile, it overcomes the disadvantages of the traditional stabilization pond, such as long residence time and large area, and has wide application prospect in the treatment of rural and small town wastewater.
